A Virginia truck driver is behind bars in Florida after police say he shot another truck driver multiple times while driving on the interstate.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said Dylan Belairstein, 43, was arrested Wednesday and charged with discharging a missile into a vehicle, aggravated assault, criminal mischief and exhibiting a firearm during the commission of a felony. Announced.
The roadside shooting occurred Sunday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75, according to the sheriff’s office.

Marion County Deputies responded to Love’s Travel Stop in Ocala after receiving a report of shots fired on I-75. The victim, identified only as another semi-truck driver, told authorities the incident started when Belairstein pulled up next to him and threw a water bottle at the truck.
The victim said he initially pulled over to confront Belairstein, but then changed his mind and drove away.
Belairstyn then allegedly chased the other driver and pulled up next to his truck again, during which time he fired several shots into the victim’s truck.

The victim slammed on his brakes to avoid a collision and fired his gun in response “out of fear for his life,” the sheriff’s office said.

While investigating the incident, Marion County deputies received information that identified the suspect as Belairstein. The deputy also had access to dashcam footage of the interior of Belairstin’s taxi.
In the video, Belairstein can be seen firing the gun twice out the window of the taxi while driving. Belairstein also pointed a second handgun at the victim, but did not fire, according to the sheriff’s office.

He was arrested Wednesday in Ocala by Marion County deputies and U.S. Marshals.
Belairstein remains in the Marion County Jail without bail.
