On Sunday, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a break-in at an office in the 20000 block of Ashbrook Place at 9 p.m.
The office also serves as headquarters for Virginia’s 10 states.Number District Republican Committee.
The perpetrator fled the scene before police arrived and an investigation is currently ongoing.
Surveillance camera footage captured the suspect, described as a “white male wearing dark clothing, a dark hat and a backpack,” entering the building.
“It is unusual for a political operation or party office to be broken into,” Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman said. “We are determined to identify the suspect, investigate why this happened and determine what was stolen and what was left behind.”
A sheriff’s office spokesman confirmed that investigators would release more details “as early as tomorrow” once they identify the person, and said additional intelligence units are “currently investigating whether anything was stolen or left behind, as well as a motive.”
Anyone with information about the suspect, the theft or related activity is asked to contact detectives.
