Guerrero Jr. Shines Against Ohtani in World Series
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. achieved something quite rare this season by hitting a two-run homer off Shohei Ohtani during Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
With Nathan Rooks on first base, Guerrero managed to connect with a hanging pitch, launching the ball over the left field wall and giving the Blue Jays a 2–1 lead.
Interestingly, Ohtani hadn’t allowed a home run in his last two playoff starts, a streak that extended over two months. It must have been quite a surprise for both him and the fans.
Earlier this postseason, on August 27, the last player to take him deep was Noelvi Marte from the Reds. Now, Ohtani, a three-time MVP, is enjoying an impressive playoff run too—recording ten strikeouts while hitting three home runs, one of which was out of Dodger Stadium. He even hit two homers in one game recently.
This Game 4 marks Ohtani’s first World Series start after recovering from elbow surgery, which limited his play to designated hitter in 2024.
On the other side, Guerrero is making a significant impact this postseason, boasting seven home runs and 14 RBIs with an average above .400. He has truly been a driving force for the Blue Jays, contributing to their success in securing their first pennant since 1993.
