Vladimir Guerrero Jr. reveals his Blue Jays contract demands

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not Juan Soto, he knows it.

He and the Blue Jays seemed to settle for an extension as Guerrero's contract expired after next season, but ultimately they were unable to reach an agreement.

Fellow Young Star Soto agreed to a 15-year, $765 million deal with the Mets this offseason, which claimed that this four-time All-Star Guerrero wanted something similar, but his price tag didn't reach $600 million.

“that [was] Much less than Soto. We're talking about millions more than Soto and over 100 million fewer people,” Guerrero said. I told ESPN.

Last season, Guerrero hit a career-high .323 with 30 home runs, 103 RBI and .940 OPS.

As for Soto, he hit .288 with 41 home runs, 109 RBI and .989 OPS.

Their numbers certainly are in the same stadium, but Guerrero didn't expect the same monetary numbers.

“It was the same year [as Soto’s contract]But it didn't arrive [$600 million]He said. “The last number I gave them as a counter offer didn't reach 600.”

He didn't ask for money at a ballpark similar to Soto's deals, but he wants a similar number of years, but that was also necessary to ask.

“I know business,” Guerrero told ESPN. “I've reduced my salary demand a bit, but I've reduced my years too. I'm looking for 14. [years]. If they gave me, I would like 14, 15, 20, but I'm doing that the right way. ”

The negotiations continued as long as they could have before he fell, perhaps before setting an interesting future for 25-year-old Guerrero after this season.

“The meeting lasted until the final day of the deadline. [the Blue Jays and Guerrero’s agents] We couldn't reach an agreement on numbers,” Guerrero said. “But as I always said, I'm not going to change the way I work because we couldn't reach an agreement. I have to keep working.”
