Alexis Ortega, known for voicing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in Latin America, has sadly passed away at the young age of 38.
This news was confirmed by various media outlets across Latin America on Tuesday, as reported by a dubbing news source on Instagram.
In their announcement, they expressed deep sorrow and offered condolences to Ortega’s family, friends, and coworkers during this trying time.
The specific cause of his death remains unknown.
Born in Mexico on August 31, 1987, Ortega began his voice acting career in 2013. He lent his voice to Holland, who is now 29, in several Marvel films, including Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
Ortega’s talent is also seen in the Spanish versions of films like Big Hero 6 (2014), Finding Dory (2016), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), and Cars 3 (2017).
In addition to his dubbing work, he appeared in Spanish Netflix series “Luis Miguel: The Series” and “The House of Flowers” in 2018.
Recently, Ortega had been involved in voice work for a project with popular YouTuber Mr. Beast.
In his last Instagram post from November 2025, he shared a sweet photo of himself with his dog, captioning it simply, “My dog.”
Fans have responded to the heartbreaking news with messages of grief. One wrote, “Rest assured King, you will be missed,” while another said, “Rest in peace my dear Alexis.” There were also sentiments like, “I’m going to miss Spider-Man,” emphasizing how his work impacted many.
Ortega was pivotal in dub roles for Holland’s early Marvel films, which included Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Avengers: Infinity War among others. Holland has starred in six MCU films in total, with plans to reprise his role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, slated for release on July 31.
Zendaya is expected to return as Peter Parker’s girlfriend, Michelle “MJ” Jones, alongside other MCU stars like Mark Ruffalo and Jacob Batalon.
