A former employee of Voice of America has been taken into custody for allegedly threatening to kill Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. This includes disturbing phone calls where he allegedly stated he would shoot her “between the eyes” using an AK-47.
Seth Jason, a 64-year-old reserve police officer from Edgewater, Maryland, was arrested on Thursday. Federal prosecutors revealed that he had been making threats against Greene, her staff, and even family members for over eight months during a span of 15 months.
According to authorities, the threatening calls were made using various phone lines connected to the Voice of America headquarters, where Jason had been employed for many years. In one call, he allegedly said, “I look forward to your book signing. We are all armed and ready to take care of you.”
Additional remarks from the calls included aggressive statements about being “locked and loaded” to take action against Greene and her team.
Jason reportedly mentioned having an AK-47, saying, “I’m going to get one between my eyes. Bum, Bum, Bum.”
The arrest involved the U.S. Capitol Police and the Anne Arundel Police Department. A spokesperson from Anne Arundel confirmed that Jason was a volunteer but noted he was no longer associated with the department.
Jason had been with VOA since 2001, though it’s unclear when he last worked there; the last known call from the headquarters was in January.
Janine Piro, the interim U.S. attorney for D.C., stated that the threats were “repeated and continually” severe. She emphasized the gravity of the situation, warning, “You are threatening civil servants, and you are facing the full power of the law. There is no mercy or excuse.”
Jason now faces multiple charges related to making threats against federal officials and harassing communications, according to the arrest warrant.
As of now, he remains in custody, with court records confirming his status. There was no immediate response from Voice of America regarding the situation.
