Vice presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) said on Fox News Channel's “The Story” on Wednesday that Vice President Kamala Harris is unfit for duty because she “doesn't even know that our troops are in danger.”
“I want to ask you one more question about the military. She claims there are no veterans currently serving in combat, but as a former veteran, or a veteran, I want to ask you about this. Let's see,” host Martha MacCallum said.
“As of today, there is not a single American military member serving on active duty in a combat zone or war zone around the world,” Harris said during Tuesday's presidential debate.
Mr McCallum said: “I find it unbelievable. To me this echoes what President Biden said on June 27th that nobody was killed, no American service members were killed. To ignore what happened at Abbey Gate is highly reprehensible. I think this is one of the reasons he's now out of the race. But what do you think about her comments?”
“Martha, I'm surprised you'd say this, coming from the vice president. Just a few weeks ago we had a U.S. soldier who was seriously injured, apparently dragged into an Iranian militia. Martha, you're the vice president and you don't seem to realize that not only are your men in danger, not only are you in a combat zone, they've actually been injured in recent weeks, Martha,” Vance said.
He added, “Once again, this shows how shallow and superficial Kamala Harris' approach to public policy is. She doesn't know what's going on. She doesn't know what's going on in the world. She can't articulate her economic policies. She can't explain how her policies are different from Biden's. There's no substance to it. I don't care how you disagree with Kamala Harris' policies, and I disagree with a lot, but you don't want a vice president who doesn't even know that our troops are being put at risk. Someone like that is not fit to be president.”
