VP hopefuls dueling for dollars as they show off their fundraising clout for Trump

Potential running mates auditioning for President Donald Trump’s running mate are touting their ability to help the former president raise much-needed campaign cash.

Private fundraising efforts by big-time Republican donors appear to be the latest vetting venue for those eyeing the Republican ticket alongside Mr. Trump, including collaborating with the former president’s rallies and working with criminals. Four potential vice presidential candidates — Sen. The rally is being hosted in Manhattan by Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnick, a billionaire Republican donor. hedge fund investor John Paulson; and New York Jets owner Woody Johnson. Tickets to attend the dinner cost up to $844,600.

The fundraiser is part of a series of high-level events and smaller grassroots efforts that the Trump campaign estimates will raise about $25 million this week.

On Wednesday, Trump will team up with his other running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, at a fundraising luncheon in Cincinnati.

A week and a half ago, Vance, Scott, Burgum, Noem, and a handful of other prominent Republican politicians who were being considered as potential vice presidential candidates all attended the Republican National Committee’s annual spring meeting in Palm Beach, Florida. He joined President Trump at a donor retreat.

Many of these fundraisers also include big-time Republican donors who aren’t committed to Trump.

“Mr. Trump and his team are paying close attention to who is activating the donor network on behalf of the former president. They are paying close attention to who appears at events with Mr. Trump’s existing donors. They’re not really interested in who’s bringing in new donors,”’ one Trump ally, who requested anonymity to speak more freely, told Fox News.

Scott, who is meeting with major donors on behalf of the Trump campaign, told Fox News Digital last week that his message to donors was: “Four more years of Donald Trump are good for the economy. But more importantly, it’s good for America’s future.”

Scott ran for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination along with Burgum and Ramaswamy, but later withdrew from the race and supported Trump.

The former president is attending a fundraiser in New York City after spending the day in a lower Manhattan courtroom. Trump is making history as the first former or current president to be tried in a criminal case.

This trial is attracting potential running mates. Mr. Vance appeared in court Monday in support of Mr. Trump. Mr. Burgum, Mr. Ramaswamy and another candidate, Rep. Bryon Donald of Florida, were in attendance Tuesday.

“We are here today because of this court circus,” Burgum told reporters on Tuesday.

Trump’s political allies say they don’t expect the former president to decide on a running mate until much closer to the Republican National Convention, which begins July 15 in Milwaukee.
