Wade Wilson: The Infamous “Deadpool Killer” and His Disturbing Following

Wade Wilson has admitted to the shocking murders of two women, yet this very brutality has attracted an unsettling admiration. His case has drawn in a cult-like following, with numerous women expressing their loyalty to him in unexpected ways.

Brian Ross, co-director and producer of the documentary “Handsome Devil,” highlighted the bizarre phenomenon surrounding Wilson, stating, “I’ve encountered many criminals, but this one stands out.” He noted that Wilson has garnered affection from hundreds of women who wish to marry him, even after understanding the details of his heinous actions. The deeper they examined this situation, the more perplexing it became.

Documentary Insights

Paramount+’s documentary dives into Wilson’s story, featuring interviews with his ex-girlfriend, father, and investigators.

On October 7, 2019, a horrific crime unfolded when Wilson strangled Christine Melton, aged 35, after meeting her at a bar. Later that same day, he brutally attacked Diane Lewis, 43, on the street, strangling her and running her over with his vehicle. Wilson was apprehended the following day, having confessed to these acts during calls with his father.

Producers have noted that both women were beloved in their communities. Their friends and family searched tirelessly for them when they went missing, amplifying the tragedy surrounding their deaths.

“These were not just statistics; they were cherished individuals,” Ross remarked. He highlighted that both victims left behind loved ones still searching for answers.

A Social Media Sensation

Wilson’s mug shot went viral on social media, drawing a surprising number of admirers who romanticized his image. His courtroom appearances—marked by a slicked-back hairstyle and colorful attire—turned into media spectacles. The juxtaposition of his demonic crimes and his flamboyant demeanor created a stark contrast that captivated many.

His online following soared, particularly on platforms like TikTok, where he has a group of fans refer to themselves as “Wade’s Wives.” These women have professed their infatuation with him, some even asking for intimate relationships or expressing a desire to bear his children.

In documenting all this, Ross noted that many listeners found his phone conversations amusing. Interestingly, some women admitted they felt safe engaging with him because he was incarcerated.

The Complex Psychology

Criminologists indicated that there are psychological patterns in women drawn to imprisoned men like Wilson, often seeing them as manageable or non-threatening. They seek emotional connections, perhaps due to their own past experiences.

Despite the severity of his crimes, Wilson received substantial financial support from these admirers. At one point, he reportedly had amassed around $100,000 through a crowdfunding effort set up by zealous supporters, although he used the funds on trivial purchases instead.

Outrageously, some women have gone to extreme lengths to support Wilson, including purchasing clothing for him. One individual even bought cosmetics to mask his numerous face tattoos, while others appeared utterly devoted to him, despite the glaring reality of his actions.

Even now, as he sits on death row, Wilson’s shifting persona has made it hard for those who admired him to reconcile the gruesome reality with the persona they fell for.

Unwavering Support Despite the Past

Amira Fox, Florida’s 20th Judicial Circuit’s state attorney, expressed horror not just at Wilson’s actions but also at the support he received. “I’ve never seen anyone as evil as Wade Wilson. It’s astonishing to find people believing it’s acceptable to support him,” she said upon his sentencing.

Wilson, who faced a death sentence, is also appealing it while serving time in isolation. Ross reflected on the lasting impact of his crimes on the victims’ families and the community, stating, “These actions have caused lifelong scars.” Although Wilson may perceive himself as charming, the reality is more chilling, and he will likely spend the rest of his life facing the consequences of his actions.
