Waffle House CEO and President Walt Emmer has passed away at the age of 58.

The Atlanta Police Foundation announced Emmer's death in a Facebook post.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Walt Emmer, president and CEO of Waffle House and beloved member of the Atlanta Police Foundation's Board of Trustees,” they said.
“Walt was a dedicated leader, a fierce advocate for public safety and an unwavering supporter of our mission to build a safer, stronger Atlanta. His passion for community service and steadfast commitment to improving the lives of others will leave a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.”
Waffle House's board of directors also released a statement, saying Emmer passed away after a long illness.
“He will be greatly missed by the entire Waffle House family,” the statement said.
According to a statement from his alma mater, Georgia Tech, Emmer joined Waffle House in 1992 and quickly rose through the ranks to become senior executives, becoming the company's president in 2002 and later taking on the titles of CEO and chairman.
Emmer is reportedly survived by three children.
