The Bronx Leads in Complaints
In 2025, the Bronx stood out as the neighborhood with the highest number of complaints. It seems that Wakefield, a spot in the borough, was particularly noisy, logging an astonishing 153,082 service calls between January 1 and December 31 last year.
This number is around 100,000 higher than the second-ranking area for complaints. That would be Flatbush in Brooklyn, which had 50,918 calls to the city’s non-emergency service.
Following closely behind were Williamsbridge and Highbridge, also in the Bronx, reporting 48,730 and 48,420 calls, respectively. Interestingly, Ridgewood in Queens made the top five with 46,409 complaints.
Overall, New York City received a total of 3,550,018 complaints in 2025, reflecting a 2.7% increase from the previous year. Complaints of noise and illegal parking dominated the list, similar to the trends observed in Wakefield.
In fact, over 577,000 calls related to parked cars blocking bus lanes or fire hydrants were logged. But noise issues were significant, too, with 463,349 complaints about residential disturbances and another 173,049 concerning noises from streets and sidewalks. Many of these focused on loud music, parties, and even complaints about simply “talking loudly.”
Other issues in the city included reports of rats, trash, and obstructed bike lanes. There were some unusual complaints, too, like one involving an illegal monkey sighting.
Just two days into the new year, there have already been more than 840 calls, with about 38% of them related to noise. One resident even reported a hole on Hempstead Avenue in the Rockaways, marking the first issue logged for 2026 in Queens.
