Walker Buehler and Alex Cora thrown out following intense dispute against the Mets

Walker Buehler and Alex Cora didn’t stick around for long on Tuesday night, but they certainly made their presence known.

The Red Sox pitcher and manager were ejected after a dramatic situation unfolded at Fenway Park during their game against the Mets. It all started when they expressed frustration over what seemed to be a missed strike call on Juan Soto during the third inning.

Things escalated when Francisco Lindor sharply made his way up the base paths. Buehler wasn’t thrilled, feeling Lindor had encroached a bit too much and subsequently stole second base against Soto.

Although catcher Carlos Narvaez quickly stood up, trying to thwart Lindor’s advance, home plate umpire Mike Estabrook ruled the pitch a ball. However, the MLB.com Gameday feature indicated the pitch definitely caught the inner corner around the knee.

Buehler didn’t hold back his frustration, yelling at Estabrook, which led to his expulsion.

Meanwhile, Cora, surrounded by players in the dugout, confronted the umpire directly, earning himself an exit as well.

Lefty Brennan Bernardino came in to replace Buehler, managing to walk Soto but then keeping the Mets off the scoreboard.

Buehler’s final stats showed he allowed four hits and walked two over just 2¹/₃ innings, with his ERA now sitting at 4.00.
