Wall Street Donors Beg Kamala Harris to Fire FTC Trust-Buster Lina Khan

Wall Street donors who fund Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign are begging her to fire Lina Khan, the nation's top trust buster at the Federal Trade Commission, after the donors complained that Khan is slowing down corporate mergers that would benefit them.

According to a Bloomberg report, “major donors” to Harris' campaign have already begun making demands if she wins the presidential election, with the main one being the firing of FTC Chair Lina Khan, who is considered the federal government's leading anti-monopoly activist.

“Private conversations [Khan] Controversy over Khan's replacement has intensified since July when IAC Chairman Barry Diller and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman called for Khan's removal, saying he was “waging war on American companies,” Bloomberg reported.

In fact, as Breitbart News reported, billionaires Reid Hoffman and Barry Diller urged Harris to publicly oppose Khan and promise to fire him if he wins in November.

Diller's company, IAC, is under investigation by the FTC, as is Microsoft's dealings with artificial intelligence startup Inflection Inc. Hoffman is a director of Microsoft and a co-founder of Inflection Inc.

Bloomberg reported that Wall Street donors to Harris plan to continue lobbying her to remove Khan until Election Day. Harris has yet to take a public or private stance on Khan or the larger issue of expanding monopoly power in the American economy.

“Two donors close to the Harris campaign said the case against Khan is that the FTC's efforts to block the merger are hurting the economy,” Bloomberg reported. “The thinking is that if Harris wants to portray herself as pro-growth, pro-business, as she and her surrogates have tried to do, she needs to replace Khan, the people said.”

Last month, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), former President Donald Trump's vice presidential nominee, defended Khan against attacks from Wall Street and Harris' billionaire donors.

“To be clear, I don't agree with Lina Khan on all of her issues, but I think her willingness to go after some of the big tech companies that have a monopoly on what we can say in our country is very smart,” Vance said.
