Wall Street Journal on Trump foreign policy: Less 'brave new world' than 'dangerous old one'

Wall Street Journal's editorial The board followed President Trump on foreign policy on Sunday said “it's not a brave new world than a return to the dangerous old.”

The board highlighted recent actions such as Trump “trying to wash his hands” in Ukraine and threatening allies in Europe and North America with tariffs even higher than enemies like China.

“This is all about an epochal return to a world of competition and power balance that was won before World War II. It's not a brave new world than a return to the dangerous old,” the board said. I wrote it.

The board said the president “says that he is making America great again, rather than retreating from the defense of freedom.”

“He says he wants 'peace', is it peace with honor, or is it a accommodation for peace in Ukrainian tombs and Chinese rule in the Pacific? And why isn't he increasing his defense spending? ” has been added.

Last Friday, Ukrainian President Voldymi Zelensky, Vice President Vance and Trump held an oval office meeting featuring the president and Ukrainian leaders, screaming, pointing and calling for support for Ukraine.

After the meeting, Trump said on his true social platform that the Ukrainian president “is not ready for peace because he feels that our involvement is giving him a great advantage in negotiations when America is involved.”

“I don't want any advantage, I want peace. He downplayed the United States in his precious oval office. He can come back when peace is ready,” Trump added.

The meeting has hit Democrats and some Republicans, and Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) called it “a total embarrassment in America.”

“It's a bad day for American foreign policy. Ukraine wants independence, the free market and the rule of law. It wants to be part of the West. Russia hates us and our Western values. We need to be clear that we support freedom,” Sen. Don Bacon (R-NEB.) told Hill in a text message last week, commenting on the meeting.

The hill reached the White House to comment on the Wall Street Journal editing.
