Walmart dealing with a multi-million dollar lawsuit from slip-and-fall victim in NJ

Jersey City Man Sues Walmart for $2 Million Following Slip and Fall Incident

A man from Jersey City has taken legal action against Walmart, seeking $2 million after sustaining what he describes as “severe, terrible, and permanent injuries” to his back and spine due to a slip and fall at one of the retailer’s New York locations.

Ramon Camillo reported in federal court that he was shopping at the Suffern Walmart on July 26, 2024, when he slipped. He claims he lost his footing after stepping into a “manhole-sized puddle of light brown liquid” near the self-checkout area.

As detailed in legal documents, Camillo underwent fusion surgery following the accident. Initially, Walmart offered Camillo a settlement of $75,000, which he ultimately rejected.

Camillo’s attorneys, who filed the lawsuit in April, argue that the extent of his injuries far exceeds the settlement amount. They assert that Walmart demonstrated significant negligence by failing to provide a safe shopping environment.

On May 16, his legal team formally indicated their intention to pursue the lawsuit against the retail giant. Interestingly, despite the serious accusations, Walmart has not yet responded to inquiries regarding this situation.
