Military Parade on Army’s 250th Birthday Sparks Controversy

June 14 marks the 250th birthday of the US Army, and President Trump is commemorating this occasion with a military parade in Washington, DC. Interestingly, this date also happens to be the birthday of another significant figure—the 79th president. However, some critics, particularly among Democrats and the media, allege that Trump specifically arranged the parade to celebrate himself.

Among those critics is Christie Walton, who, at 76, is noted for her vast wealth, a fortune of $17 billion derived mostly from her late husband’s inheritance after he passed away in a plane crash in 2005. It seems that like many wealthy women who lean left, she channels her resources into opposing Trump in an attempt to gain social approval. This includes her backing of the “No Kings” protest set for Saturday, which opposes the military parade—fueled, as they claim, by the idea that Trump is merely celebrating his own birthday with this display.

The far-left New York Times has even gone so far as to publish advertisements promoting these protests, calling on attendees to “mobilize” against the “King Trump.” It’s quite a statement, considering much of Walton’s assets derive from low-cost goods from China that are sold by Walmart. One might wonder, if she loses even a small fraction of her wealth next year, how significant that change will be.

The Democratic Party, remarkably unchanged since the Civil War, seems willing to disturb the status quo to maintain access to cheap goods and labor.

Protests are reportedly organized across the US in alignment with Trump’s military parade on June 14. The “No Kings” organization has expressed that the event aims to highlight the illusion of strength projected by such military displays, asserting instead that true power exists beyond Washington.

While organizers profess their intentions for a peaceful event, it leaves some skepticism. This seems emblematic of a broader shift leftward, with protesting a military milestone appearing to be a poor strategy—akin to justifying chaos in Los Angeles to shield offenders from deportation.

In the long run, the left continues to struggle against persistent narratives. This brings about the perception that Trump’s actions are merely self-serving celebrations, which might not resonate as strongly with the public anymore. The manipulative tactics of the previous few years—during the pandemic and civil unrest—have seemed effective at one point, but they may now be falling flat. People are increasingly seeking stability and order, and many find themselves aligning with Trump’s calls for them.
