Walt Disney World food prices soared 61% in last 10 years

Food prices at Disney World in Florida have soared an average of 61% over the past decade, nearly double the rate of inflation over that period, according to the study.

Meanwhile, ticket prices have risen by an average of 56 percent over the past decade – the study found – and it’s not just hungry people who are frustrated in “The Most Magical Place on Earth.”

The worst price increases have been seen in Sanaa, in Asian restaurants. According to FinanceBuzz:tracked the costs of 10 iconic menu items served at Disney theme parks in Orlando over the past 10 years.

The price of bread at Sanaa’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has increased 120% since 2014, nearly four times the 32% inflation rate during that period.

According to FinanceBuzz, five slices of bread and nine dips and sauces cost $22, up from $9.99 a decade ago.

The price of corn dog nuggets, a snack served with cheese sauce at Casey’s Corner, has increased 116 percent this year, selling for $10.79 compared to $4.99 in 2014.

Other popular sweets that have outpaced inflation over the past decade include Mickey Mouse-shaped ice cream bars (up 63%), churros (54%), Epcot fish and chips (50%) and turkey legs (39%).

Mickey Waffles were the only popular snack whose price remained below the rate of real-world inflation, according to the study.

Since 2014, the price of a Mickey Waffle has increased 30%, from $4.99 a decade ago to $6.49 today.

The Washington Post has reached out to the Walt Disney Company for comment.

This amount includes meals, hotel, parking and theme park admission, and the price will vary depending on the time of year you travel.

Tickets cost $99 a decade ago and now cost $189, a 91% increase in price.

Aside from rising ticket prices, Disney fans have also long complained about rising food prices.

In December, travel agent Caitlin LaBeouf paid $70 for a bowl of Frosted Flakes for her 4-year-old daughter while dining at the Cinderella Royal Table resort restaurant.

One frustrated Disney theme park guest took to Reddit to complain about having to spend $500 on food and drinks over three days at Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot.

Another Reddit user wrote, “I’ve been going 3-5 times a year for the past 15 years. I love WDW. But now every time I have a sit down meal it costs me over $200.”

The person added that he and his family “may need to go off-site more for meals.”

Last September, Disney raised food prices again.

According to Inside The Magic Kingdom, Disney has increased the price of its Baby Gem Caesar Salad from $23 to $25.

The blue iceberg salad went up from $22 to $24, and the crispy calamari appetizer went up from $26 to $28. According to the blog.
