National security adviser Mike Waltz confirmed on Sunday that US airstrikes “stolen” multiple Hooty leaders in attacks this weekend.
Asked how this weekend's US attacks differ from those strikes under the Biden administration, Waltz said those “before and behind” strikes “provement to be reckless attacks in the end.”
“This was an overwhelming response that actually targeted multiple Houthi leaders and took them out,” Waltz said in an interview with ABC News “this week.”
“And the difference here is that, after Houthi's leadership, two are responsible for Iran,” he continued.
The Waltz highlighted the negative consequences that Houchis had on global commerce.
“Iran repeatedly funded, provided resources, trained and helped close not only US warships but also global commerce, but also two of the world's most strategic ocean lanes.
“President Trump felt he couldn't accept it. What we inherited was a terrible situation, and this is one of the lasting efforts to correct it, right it and resume global commerce,” Waltz added.
Trump ordered a series of airstrikes on Iran-backed extremist group Houtis on Saturday, saying the US would use “overwhelming deadly force” to take the group.
Trump also warned Iran to halt support rebel groups, saying he was “completely accountable” for the actions of the proxy groups.
The attack was carried out by Air Force jets and armed drones that took off from the area. Sources told Hill that it was the first attack in the attack “many if not week.”
The attack comes as a pledge that Houthis will continue to attack the shipping vessels in the Red Sea. The group has targeted ships since the start of the Israel-Hamas War, raising tensions in the region.
Hotelhis spokesman Nasr El-Din Amer told NBC News that the group had planned retaliation and would not halt until the “Gaza blockade” was lifted.
“We will respond to further escalations of recent escalations,” he said.
