Waltz Faces Difficulty in Getting Confirmed Due to Signal Chats

During a segment on MSNBC’s “Ana Cabrera Reports,” Senator Peter Welch (D-VT) expressed concerns about the potential nomination of former national security adviser Mike Waltz as the UN ambassador under the Trump administration.

Welch remarked that the situation is evolving, indicating that Waltz is out as national security adviser and now positioned as a candidate for the UN ambassador role.

He emphasized the importance of accountability in such a position, noting that a confirmation hearing is essential. “We need to hold individuals accountable,” he said.

Welch raised issues regarding signal gates, pointing out that they raise serious concerns about military safety and ethical standards for those in uniform—an issue he takes very seriously.

Cabrera then asked if he believed Waltz would struggle to gain confirmation related to the signal gate situation.

Welch replied, “I think so. There seems to be a denial about how significant this really is.”
