Walz Assures Muslims a ‘Side by Side’ Role in Harris Administration

Democratic Gov. Tim Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, said Thursday night that if Democrats win the 2024 election, Muslim Americans will be open “side-by-side” in a Harris administration. He promised that he would be guaranteed to fulfill his role.

Harris and Walz are trying to woo Muslim voters who remain alienated by President Joe Biden's administration's support for Israel during the year-long war in Gaza against Hamas terrorists, Reuters report.

Those words were echoed by Walz on Thursday, with Harris emphasizing a cease-fire and pledging continued support for the Jewish state and a role for Muslims.

The Minnesota governor made the promise during an online conference hosted by Emgage Action, a Muslim-American activist group that recently endorsed Harris.

“As Salam Alaikum,” Walz said in a group call, using the Arabic greeting before opening up to Muslim and Arab voters.

According to Reuters, he said:

Vice President Harris and I are committed to continuing to condemn anti-Muslim, anti-Arab sentiment in all its forms, led by Donald Trump, but more importantly, to ensure that Muslims are involved in and on the side of this administration. It is a promise to serve. Nearby.

No other religion was mentioned in the same segment that guaranteed similar access to the Harris administration.

Walz's participation in Thursday's online event coincided with the debut of Harris Walz, an Arab American, according to NBC News.

Walz spoke about the Middle East conflict and expressed empathy for Muslims and Arab Americans, as do other Democrats who seek to forge alliances with members of their faiths.

“As Salaam Alaikum”, Waltz said Before discussing the Middle East crisis. “I know the pain in this community is deep. Our hearts are broken.”

“The scale of death and destruction in Gaza is staggering and devastating,” the Minnesota governor said. “Tens of thousands of innocent civilians have been killed, families have fled time and time again in search of safety. We all here know that this war must end, and now. I know it has to end.”

Walz's push comes after a poll last month found that Muslim American voters view former President Donald Trump more favorably.

Mr. Trump's standing within the group is better than it was four years ago. new york post reported.
