Walz-Backed Amnesty for Illegals Found to Burden Social Security, Medicare

During his time in Congress, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) co-sponsored the Dream Act, an amnesty program that would allow millions of illegal aliens to become naturalized American citizens. A federal analysis found that the amnesty would have increased spending on programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

In 2017, while a member of the House of Representatives, Walz co-hosted the event with hundreds of House Democrats and a handful of House Republicans. dream act The bill aims to help more than 3 million illegal aliens eventually secure green cards and gain citizenship.

Months after the bill was introduced, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a report showing that the DREAM Act, co-sponsored by Walz, cost American taxpayers tens of billions of dollars. revealed.

CBO and Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) staff estimate that S. 1615 will be enacted. Direct spending would increase by $26.8 billion between 2018 and 2027. Over the same period, CBO and JCT estimate that the bill would increase net revenues by $900 million (with a $4.3 billion decrease in on-budget revenues and an increase in off-budget revenues). [Social Security taxes] 5.3 billion dollars.

In total, CBO and JCT estimate the changes in direct spending and revenues due to enactment of S. 1615. The fiscal deficit is expected to increase by $25.9 billion from 2018 to 2027, and the budget deficit is expected to increase by $30.6 billion. And we reduced the off-budget deficit by $4.7 billion during that period. [Emphasis added]

Perhaps most importantly, the Walz-backed amnesty would increase taxpayer-funded higher education spending by $1 billion, increase earned income taxes and child tax credits by $5.5 billion, and increase Medicaid spending by $5 billion. However, food stamp spending would have increased by $2.3 billion and Supplemental Security Income would have increased. SSI) benefits would increase by $900 million, Social Security spending would increase by $600 million, and Medicare spending would increase by $300 million.

The amnesty would allow newly legalized illegal aliens to co-sponsor green cards with foreign relatives through a process known as “chain migration,” among other things, a social safety policy aimed at Americans. It will have an immeasurable impact on online programs.

Walz supported other amnesties during his time in Congress, including one that would grant green cards to immigrants in the United States under Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Another amnesty supported by Walz would lure illegal aliens into the U.S. military in exchange for green cards.
