Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz, d., denounced President Trump's speech to Congress in an interview with CNN, calling his speech “reality TV.”
“Look, it was something I was expecting, it was reality television, and it was for consumption for the people lined up there, Republican senators and members of the House,” Walz told CNN's Kasie Hunt on “arena.”
On Tuesday, the president gave his first parliamentary speech of his second term. The president thrusts his head with a Democrat during his speech. That's because a Texas Democrat was taken out of his room. Several Democrats also left the room in the president's remarks.
“I realize that there's absolutely no way I can say I can make them happy, stand, smile, or praise them,” Trump said of the Democrats in his speech.
“I was able to find a cure for the most devastating illness,” he added. “A disease that wipes out the whole nation or presents the answer to the biggest economy in history. And these people sitting here don't applause, hold back, certainly don't support these astronomical achievements.
On Wednesday, Walz also appeared to swipe up Trump to refer to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) as “Pocahontas.”
“The idea of a president taking that podium and throwing a slur at the US Senator in the middle is absolutely ridiculous,” Waltz told Hunt.
Oka reached out to the White House for comments.
