Walz says campaigning with Harris was 'the honor and privilege of my life'

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) said it had been the “honor and privilege” of his life to choose Harris as his running mate and campaign with her over the past few months.

“I would like to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for believing in me and choosing me as her running mate,” he said in an online post. “It has been the honor and privilege of my life to campaign by your side.”

Walz acknowledged that the results of the presidential election were not what he and Harris had hoped for, but thanked the millions of Americans who supported them.

“Although the outcome was not what we had hoped for, the millions of Americans who joined our campaign and stood up for our greatest ideals of civility, compassion, and love for our neighbors. Thank you very much,” Walz said.

“Now more than ever, we need you to continue fighting for these values ​​and the country we all love,” his statement concluded.

Harris conceded the race Wednesday during a speech at her alma mater, Howard University. She told supporters that the fight was not over and that victory could “take time.”

The Hill and Decision Desk headquarters announced early Wednesday morning that the presidential election had been decided in favor of Trump. He advanced to a second term after securing the key battleground states of Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. Results are still being tallied in Arizona.
