During CNN's coverage of the vice presidential debate on Tuesday, CNN senior political commentator and former Obama adviser David Axelrod spoke about 2024 Democratic vice presidential candidate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D)'s Tiananmen Square protests. The answer to false claims about where he was during the operation said it was. Because the characters were garbled, “it was best to deliver it in Chinese, which is as easy to understand as it is to be incomprehensible.”
Axelrod said there was a powerful moment when Walz spoke about the 2020 election and democracy, saying, “And he turned to Vance and said, 'Did you lose the election? And Vance answered that question. I didn't. I thought that was terrible.”
He added:[T]The answer to Tiananmen Square would have been best conveyed in Chinese, even if it was difficult to understand. The first answer about the Middle East was that he was nervous and it was showing. ”
Mr. Axelrod continued. “But when it comes to this, about health care, about abortion rights, we can all do it — all of us old debaters can hear his technique. But he gets his message across and people get it. So I think Vance was by far the more sophisticated performer, but in a way, being too sophisticated may also be a problem, just like Waltz was a very sincere person. think.”
