Are we humanoids? Or a dancer?
A San Francisco nightclub recently fitted a DJ discovered by a robot designed for war.
Phantom, a humanoid robot created by Foundation Robotics Labs, performed on a 30-minute set at Temple Nightclub during the event being billed as “Tech Gigaparty,” an AI trade expo and networking event.
According to Timothy Karoff from Sfgatethe robot set was praised, but the bulge of the fist that came from the War Machine was quirky.
The main focus of Foundation Robotics Labs is to build robots for national defense and military purposes, rather than making them DJs in nightclubs. Robot startup customers include automakers, warehouses, logistics companies and the US Department of Defense.
Robots such as Phantom are already used in non-combat roles in the US military, such as maintenance tasks and remote refueling aircraft.
The Foundation is the only American robotics company that builds humanoids for national defense. Other robot companies own it Prohibited “Weaponization” of robots It was promised Do not use them in military roles.
“We're against it,” co-founder Mike LeBlanc told SFGATE. “We believe that humanoids are important for the future of war. Therefore, we design bigger, faster, stronger robots.”
Announcing humanoid robots as DJs was a way for the company to show that war machines could also be used for fun.
“We are not trying to apologise for the strength of the robot,” LeBlanc told the outlet. “So for us, this is the perfect announcement, as this is our robot. This is a fun moment.”
