War veteran’s campaign unleashes on Dem opponent after top aide’s ‘disgusting’ smear of his military book

First appeared on FOX: The campaign of Sam Brown, a veteran running for U.S. Senate in Nevada, is fighting back against accusations of “fraud” from a campaign staffer for his Democratic opponent and a Nevada Democrat for selling a book about Brown’s recovery from a near-fatal injury suffered in the Iraq War.

“Don’t worry, Sam. We think you’ll have plenty of time after November 5th to promote your latest con,” said Joanna Warshaw, a spokeswoman for Sen. Jacky Rosen. Post to X This was in response to a post last week in which Brown promoted his new book, which he said talks about “how I overcame the toughest circumstances of my life to find my calling and see hope for myself in others” and his “mission to inspire hope and change the world.”

Brown is a retired Army captain and Purple Heart recipient who was seriously injured in an IED explosion while deployed to Afghanistan in 2008, leaving him with severe burns to his face.

Not only was he called a con man by a Rosen campaign spokesman, but the Nevada Democratic Party also weighed in, calling Brown’s sale of a book about his recovery from combat injuries a “fraud.”

“A new scam has begun,” said Katherine Kurtz, a spokeswoman for the Nevada Democratic Party. Post to X in response to Brown’s promotion of his book.

“Jacky Rosen has shown her true colors,” Kristy Wilkinson, communications director for the Brown campaign, said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“This statement shows a clear disrespect for our U.S. military veterans and wounded service members. It’s not just an insult to Captain Brown, it’s an insult to all Nevada veterans who have sacrificed and served our country,” Wilkinson said. “It’s outrageous coming from someone who should represent all Nevadans. Captain Brown would never behave in such a despicable manner, disrespect our veterans or let partisan politics influence how he treats others.”

Rosen’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

In a statement, the Nevada Democratic Party defended the book, calling it a “scam.”

“After Scamman Brown started a shady political action committee and used it as a slush fund to defraud grassroots donors and pay off campaign debts in the last election, he is now trying to line his own pockets through book sales in this election,” Kurtz told Fox News Digital.

“Rather than speaking to the issues that matter to Nevada voters, a state he moved to just a few years ago, Sam Brown appears focused on pre-selling a book to promote himself in the final months before the election.”

The Nevada race is closely watched because many experts see it as one of Republicans’ best chances to retake seats and regain control of the Senate.

The Cook Political Report rates the race as “even-fifty,” along with the Senate races in Michigan, Montana and Ohio.
