Backlash Against Warren Over Kimmel Comments

While many on the left have expressed gratitude for Jimmy Kimmel’s return to late-night television, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is facing scorn for her reaction. She pointed out that the communications company might be catering to the Trump administration’s requests in order to secure government approvals and called for an investigation into the situation.

“Kimmel is back, but many Americans can’t see it. I’m looking for answers about potential corruption,”

Warren mentioned in a statement, scrutinizing what she described as “last-minute settlements, secret side deals, and multi-billion dollar mergers” awaiting approval during Trump’s tenure.

She continued, stating, “Trump silences freedom of speech, and that will restrain our democracy. It seems a major media player is enabling his authoritarian tendencies.”

On Monday, Disney, the parent company of ABC, announced that Kimmel’s show would be returning the next day. However, ABC affiliates owned by Sinclair and Nexstar indicated they would not air the show as planned.

Warren accused these companies of “possible corruption,” emphasizing that many Americans remain in the dark about Kimmel’s return. She mentioned that Nexstar and Sinclair manage numerous local stations and that they have pending deals tied to Trump. “They won’t broadcast Kimmel tonight. I’m looking for potential corruption,” she reiterated.

Warren’s comments sparked laughter and ridicule from many conservatives on social media. One user quipped, “It’s baffling why Senator Warren, who should focus on urgent issues, is investigating why some stations aren’t airing Kimmel’s awful shows.” Another added that “the government cannot dictate what should be broadcast.”

Moreover, one critic challenged Warren, stating, “Trump never censored Jimmy Kimmel. This is merely a business decision by Disney and the ABC affiliates.” They continued, urging her to stop misleading the public.

Meanwhile, the former president threatened legal action against ABC for bringing Kimmel back, suggesting they would “test” ABC on this matter.

In summary, Warren’s comments on Kimmel’s situation have drawn sharp criticism, raising questions about her priorities amid pressing issues.
