Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Democrat, Massachusetts) said that President-elect Trump's continued talk about U.S. expansion is a cause for concern regarding the cabinet selection and candidates that President-elect Trump has chosen for his second administration. He argued that many of them require Senate approval.
Warren joined CNN's Jake Tapper on Wednesday as President Trump continues to discuss a merger with Canada and the acquisition of Greenland and the Panama Canal. She said she wanted to respond to this conversation in two ways.
“First of all, the United States respects international law. We respect other countries' borders,” Warren said.
She also highlighted Russian President Vladimir Putin and his invasion of Ukraine as the war nears its third year, saying he also does not respect borders.
“But the second thing I want to say is, why would Donald Trump do this?” Warren said in an interview. Highlighted by Mediaite.
“And the answer is, let's take a big break and ask a few more questions, so we don't spend any more time on Pentagon Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, and we don't spend any more time on Tulsi Gabbard. I think what we're saying is, let's not spend any more time on Robert Kennedy because he's in Putin's pocket and he's not someone we can trust with our secrets. There is no [Jr.]Opinions on vaccines,” the Massachusetts Democrat said.
Warren noted that Ceante has the job of questioning and voting to approve or reject a number of President Trump's top nominees.
Some candidates have expressed concerns about a lack of expertise on issues or questionable backgrounds.
The Senate will begin the confirmation process soon. The Judiciary Committee appointed former Florida Attorney General Pam Gaetz, who was chosen as President Trump's second choice to lead the Justice Department, after former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) withdrew from deliberations amid debate. A hearing date was set for Mr. Bondi.
With less than two weeks until the next president returns to the Oval Office, he has sparked international debate by proposing that the Gulf of Mexico be renamed the Gulf of America. He also said China has influence over the Panama Canal and that it should become the 51st country now that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced his resignation.cent state. President Trump has also stirred up controversy in Europe after claiming the United States would acquire Greenland, a Danish territory.
“Donald Trump would be happy if we didn't spend time talking about them,” Warren said of the candidates, adding, “And we're always talking about this idea and that idea and something else.” We are talking about it,” he added.
