The upcoming women of “CBS Morning” star Gale King are taking part in spaceflight participation for all women on a blue-origin rocket ship owned by Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos.

But at least one Washington Post staff believes King, one of the best paid television personalities once said to have made $13 million a year from CBS, should decline the honor as a way to show solidarity with fellow journalists who are upset by Bezos' interference.

Staff told Oliver Darcy's status newsletter that King's actions were “a kind of gross” given Bezos' recent actions.

The post is being asked for comment from the Washington Post, King and CBS News.

It's unclear whether King is paying her own way to fly into space or if someone else is picking up the tab.

Blue Origin's new Shepherd orbital flights will vary in price over time. In 2021, the first seat was auctioned for $28 million, with proceeds donated to charities.

Subsequent reports suggest that ticket prices are set at around $300,000 per passenger.

However, it is difficult to define a standard ticket price for New Shepard, as Blue Origin adjusts prices individually for each passenger.

The announced spaceflight coincided with turbulence earlier this week when the billionaire Amazon founder announced in Bezos' newspaper that the publication was bidding farewell to opinion page editor David Shipley.

Shipley, a former speechwriter for Bill Clinton, confirmed his departure after revealing in his X account that Bezos wanted a new editor on board his plan to promote “personal freedom and free markets” on his X account.

This change shocked current and former Washington Post staff who were surprised by the increasingly aggressive invasion of Bezos' editorial decisions.

Bezos, who owns Blue Origin and remains Amazon's biggest shareholder despite resigning as CEO, has denied critics' claims that he is trying to curry favor with President Donald Trump in order to protect business interests that are subject to regulatory scrutiny from the new administration.
