The world was astounded when Elon Musk’s neurotechnology company Neuralink announced in January that it had successfully implanted the first brain chip in a human.
Many were in awe of this feat. Dave Rubin I was one of them, but there were also those who feared the effects of human brain chips.
One skeptic is Zubby, a British rapper and podcaster who recently met with Musk to discuss his controversial Neuralink brain chip.
Elon Musk discusses people’s biggest fears about NeuralinkYoutube
“To be honest with you, the thing that worries me, and worries a lot of people out there, about what you do and the company that you run, is Neuralink,” the artist said. “Can you explain what Neuralink is and what its purpose is?”
“We’re going to put a chip in your brain and control your mind,” Musk candidly admitted, and while that may be true, there’s a lot more to Neuralink than just mind control.
First, the chip has been in development for years, and Musk has promised that the company is “not trying to circumvent any regulatory approvals” and that it’s “doing everything by the book” and even “going far beyond the FDA’s requirements from a safety standpoint.”
Simply put, this chip is[restore] Bringing functionality to people who have lost the connection between their brain and body.”
Who will benefit from the Neuralink chip?
“Imagine if, say, Stephen Hawking could speak and communicate as fast as a fully functional person,” Musk told Zuby, adding that Neuralink’s “first use will be to restore function to quadriplegics.”
But it may also be possible to cure physical blindness.
“The second application is restoring vision,” Musk said, “so if someone is completely blind, or if they’ve lost their optic nerve, we can directly simulate the neurons in the visual part of the cortex, and then we can give vision directly to the brain,” and perhaps even enable the person to “see at different wavelengths.”
Listening to Musk talk about helping people who were previously incurable, Dave couldn’t help but chuckle at the left’s demonization of Musk.
“Is Elon Musk, the man who helps quadriplegics walk, helps the blind see, sends us to Mars, protects free speech on Twitter, and puts satellite internet on Mars, the ultimate villain?” he asked, shocked.
