Police in Bunnell, Florida, were involved in a brawl involving more than 50 people and requested the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office to de-escalate the situation Saturday night.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, with assistance from jail correctional officers, responded to South Anderson Street in Bunnell just after midnight Saturday.

Before officers arrived, Bunnell police were alerted to an altercation between a large group of people.

After the arrests, the disturbance escalated and officers reportedly witnessed 50 to 60 people becoming physically aggressive towards each other and the police.

According to the sheriff’s office, one deputy was shoved and another was hit during the scuffle, but neither was seriously injured.

One of the women, Andrea Armster, 41, of Bunnell, began yelling at the officers and interfering with their arrest. She then pushed one of the deputies away.

Police said despite multiple warnings to leave the scene, Armster refused commands and continued to yell at law enforcement officers.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staley said, “When residents try to impede an investigation or law enforcement presence, it puts everyone at risk.” “What was supposed to be a simple investigation into a disturbance turned into an act of violence within minutes. Fortunately, our nation’s men and women are well-trained to quickly diffuse this situation.”
