President Donald Trump is kicking off a year-long celebration for the 250th anniversary of the United States at a gathering in Des Moines, Iowa, held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Thursday.

A significant event has been organized by United States 250, a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers and citizens, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

This gathering is described as an “epic beginning to our dynamic, year-long memorial in our beautiful country,” potentially setting the tone for the celebrations to come.

Trump is expected to give his “salute to America” speech around 8:30 PM ET at the fairgrounds.

“America250 is excited to host this important kickoff event in Iowa, aligning with President Trump’s promise of a remarkable celebration for this notable occasion of America’s 250th anniversary,” noted Monica Crowley, the main media spokesperson for the US 250 initiative.

She added that this event is envisioned as a vivid start to a year filled with celebrations throughout the country, highlighting a renewed commitment to the nation’s future.

Crowley mentioned that the event will feature patriotic music, dance, and fireworks. “This will be a very special event honoring our great nation and the brave heroes who fought to keep us free,” she asserted. Trump intends to discuss key achievements in trade too, particularly as they relate to farmers.

The president will likely take this opportunity to advocate for his “big, beautiful bill” that’s making its way through Congress.
