House Democrats are holding an event at the Capitol on Wednesday afternoon to raise the narrative of “everyday Americans” who have been harmed by President Trump's sweeping actions and Republican-led budget initiatives.
“American Voice” event, announcement Minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (DN.Y.) will arrive on Monday the day after Trump gave a joint speech before Congress. Many Democrats either boycott the speech or left while he said. Others chose to hold signs of protest, and one MP, Al Green (D-Texas), was escorted from the room after the explosion.
Jeffries defended a “majority” of her colleagues in the address, but stopped commenting on the protest.
Democrats also pushed back the blueprint of the GOP-led budget and called for assurances that the president would use the funds to allocate funds before throwing support behind the resolution. Congressional funds are available 10 days before it expires.
The event is expected to start at 12pm ET.
