On Tuesday morning, Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem is scheduled to testify before the Senate regarding the budget request for 2026.
Noem’s statements, presented to the Senate Homeland Security Committee, indicate that the Trump administration is focused on enforcing a strong immigration and border policy.
This includes actions like significantly limiting FEMA’s scope and pursuing legal actions against Democrats involved in a recent protest in New Jersey. Secretaries are playing a pivotal role in supporting Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
The budget plan outlines goals such as completing the border wall, enhancing border security technology, modernizing the Coast Guard’s fleet, bolstering Secret Service protections, and improving state capabilities for significant events like the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Olympics.
The hearing is set to commence at 9:30 a.m.
