The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will provide Friday's update on investigation into a collision between an Army Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines plane between an American Airlines plane outside of Reagan Washington National Airport last month.
The collision killed all 67 people on the airliner on their way from Kansas to Washington. The incident has sparked widespread concerns about the lack of staffing at the Federal Aviation Administration and what could have been done to prevent an aviation accident.
President Trump vowed to overhaul the FAA, primarily air traffic control, in the wake of a fatal collision. The president appeared to be denounced the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programme to undermine agents.
Earlier this month, the agency ruled that helicopters and planes would no longer be able to share airspace above the Potomac River.
The briefing is expected to begin at 2pm EST.
