White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is scheduled to brief reporters Friday afternoon as pressure mounts on President Biden to grant more pardons by January.
Biden appeared to reverse course on Sunday, granting a controversial pardon to his son Hunter Biden. The move confused Washington, with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle questioning his logic. Some are seeking further pardons, including one for President-elect Trump.
The White House is also considering whether Biden should preemptively protect Trump's critics ahead of an incoming administration focused on retaliation, sources told The Hill. Ta.
The press conference also came amid global tensions, including impeachment threats against South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol, a U.S. ally who declared martial law, and ongoing wars in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
The event is scheduled to start at 2pm ET.
