A few years ago, Bill Maher entered the “Hotboxing” studio with Mike Tyson and co-host Sebastian Joseph Day to discuss several political issues, including transgender athletes.
Tyson, one of the most famous athletes in the world, made some startling comments about men competing in women’s sports divisions.

Maher began by saying that opposition to transgender athletes – who are biologically male – competing in women’s sports is rooted in “women’s opinions.”
“They’re saying, ‘That’s not fair to us,'” Maher told Tyson and Joseph Day.
“That’s not true,” Tyson said, referring to transgender tennis player Rene Richards, who he said “lost all the time.”
“She didn’t win a championship or anything,” he claimed.
“Obviously, this doesn’t happen all the time, but the big one right now is this Leah Thomas case,” Maher countered, suggesting a “transgender category” as a solution.
“So listen, they [trans women athletes] “We have no right to participate. What right do we have to say?” Tyson responded.
“Mike, can you imagine at the height of your power or even right now, getting in the ring with a woman? … It would be a bloody fight,” Maher said.
