Watch one of Steve Bakers final interviews before his arrest

At 7 a.m. this morning, investigative journalist and Blaze Media correspondent Steve Baker turned himself in to the FBI on criminal charges related to his January 6 reporting.

The specific charges against him for which he was released after his arrest are as follows:

  • knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority;
  • Disorderly and disruptive behavior in restricted buildings or grounds
  • Acts that disrupt the order inside the National Diet Building
  • Parades, demonstrations, and picketing inside the Capitol

Yesterday, Stu Bruguiere interviewed Mr. Baker in the final hours before his arrest and we were able to hear once again the story of retaliation through apparent selective prosecution.

“The simple way to explain this is that I was contacted by the FBI in July 2021, just five or six months after the events of January 6th,” Baker told The Stu.

However, given that Baker is a permanent member of the media organization, it was not until October 2021 that the U.S. Attorney General granted permission for the FBI to interview Baker, which is a step in the process. It was a necessary step.

“A month later, in November, I received notice from the Department of Justice that they were actually going to indict me for crimes related to January 6th,” Baker explained.

But when Baker “broke it out with a pretty aggressive press attack…” [the DOJ] 20 months of silence. ”

“Back in August 2023, I received a grand jury subpoena for the video I shot, even though we had offered them no obligation two years earlier. So this was a little bit unreasonable. …And we complied again, and then they went silent for another four months,” Baker explained.

Then, in December 2023, Baker received a call telling him he needed to surrender a week before Christmas.

“Then, thankfully, Blaze Media launched another heavy attack, but within 30 hours they were back out again. And we didn’t hear from them for two months,” he told Stu.

Unfortunately, Baker was met with a final call in February to surrender on Friday, March 1st, which he called “D-Day.”

This story is incredibly infuriating, but what is infuriating is the fact that the specific journalists who reported on J6, like Steve Baker, have not been prosecuted.

why?

Probably because they work for leftist news organizations.

For example, “the fifth person who first entered through the broken window was a New York Times reporter,” but he was not charged.

“This is a hardcore and blatant case of selective prosecution,” Steve said. “What they haven’t shown us yet is that they are holding those who report to left-wing news organizations to the same standards and laws that they apply to those of us who report otherwise. ”
