Firefighters in Russia had to rescue dozens of people who became stuck on an amusement park attraction last week, dangling 50 feet above the ground.

After the rescue, authorities said “the playground swings have been shut down for technical reasons,” according to Newsflare.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) launched a rescue operation after a swing set in a park in the city of Nalchik broke on June 16. Video of the operation shows fire and rescue workers climbing ladders to help free 13 people trapped on the swing set.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations said rescuers had managed to get everyone off the mountain safely without any injuries and that it would investigate the cause of the malfunction.

Russia has had problems with swing rides before, including last year when the roof of a merry-go-round that holds the seats in place collapsed, injuring 20 people. The New York Post reported..

Bystanders rushed to the scene to help the victims and assisted in the rescue. At least eight children were injured, including a 27-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl who were taken to hospital in “serious condition.” Local reports said the girl required surgery.

The Oaks amusement park in Portland experienced a malfunction last week when 28 people were trapped upside down at the top of its “Atmosphere” ride. The park said operators of the ride called 911 and initiated “emergency procedures” after the ride became stuck at the “apex” position.

The riders remained airborne for approximately 25 minutes before Portland Fire Rescue arrived and began removing people from the vehicle. No one was injured during the rescue, and everyone was safely removed.
