Zuckerberg and others were reprimanded at a Congressional hearing this Wednesday. One of the people leading the questioning was Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who was unimpressed with Zuckerberg’s answers.

“Instagram also displayed the following warning screen to individuals searching for child abuse material,” Cruz said.

“What we provided to our users was two Your choices: Get the resource or check the results anyway. Mr. Zuckerberg, what the hell were you thinking? ” Mr. Cruz fired at the CEO.

“Okay, Senator, the basic science behind it is that when people are looking for something problematic, it’s possible to help them get help instead of just blocking it. “It’s often helpful to direct people to something,” Zuckerberg said before Cruz interrupted.

“I understand ‘get the resources,’ but where is the link to ‘just check the results’?” Cruz shot back.

“Because, well, we could be wrong. If we think the results could be wrong, we try to (or have tried to) raise this warning,” Zuckerberg said. was justified.

“Let me ask you, how many times have you seen this warning screen?” Cruz asked, to which Zuckerberg simply replied, “I don’t know.”
