Watch the robbers' unhurried escape with $100 million in stolen jewels

Newly released footage reveals the theft of $100 million in historic jewels from the Louvre, showing the thieves making their escape in a construction lift.

The video captures two men—one dressed in a neon vest and the other in a motorcycle helmet—nonchalantly descending from the iconic Parisian museum to the ground.

They take their time leaving the scene, riding down in a mobile lift connected to a stolen truck.

Once they reached the ground, they vanished from sight, with police later reporting that they had departed on electric scooters.

This footage, which has gone viral on social media, appears to have been filmed from inside the Louvre, overlooking the Seine River, as reported by the Telegraph.

French authorities are currently on the lookout for four suspects involved in this significant heist, having stolen eight jewelry pieces worth millions in just a matter of minutes.

According to police, the “four-man kamikaze team” boldly parked a stolen truck outside the museum, ascended via a construction lift to access a second-floor window, and broke into the Apollo Gallery by cutting through the glass with an angle grinder. Although an alarm was triggered, it only alerted security personnel focused on visitor safety, which is, perhaps, a glaring oversight.

Inside, the thieves were seen casually dismantling a glass case that housed one of the coveted items, all while bewildered visitors watched.

Authorities noted that the thieves attempted—and failed—to set fire to a mobile ladder before making their escape, inadvertently leaving behind an emerald crown adorned with over 1,300 diamonds, once belonging to Empress Eugenie.

The truck they used was typically employed for moving furniture in and out of residences. Nonetheless, they abandoned it, keys included, as they fled on scooters.

So far, no suspects have been named.

Investigators mentioned that a motorcycle helmet and gloves belonging to one of the robbers were discovered at the scene, adding another layer to the ongoing investigation.
