WATCH: Theo Von and Donald Trump swap stories family trauma

Something you probably don't know about the 45th President of the United States (and, God willing, the 46th) is that he doesn't drink alcohol. In fact, he has never had a drink in his life.

During a recent episode of Theo's Fong's “This Past Weekend” podcast, the Republican presidential candidate showed surprising weakness when it came to his lifetime sobriety.

“I had a great older brother who taught me the lesson: don't drink alcohol,” Trump said, adding, “I've never drunk alcohol in my life.”

“I had a lot of respect for him. He had a lot of talent. He was good looking. He had an incredible character,” Trump said of his brother. “He had lived in terrible conditions for a long time. I was amazed that his body held up.”

“I've been in recovery for the better part of a decade,” Phuong said, opening up about his own struggles with substance abuse, “and so has my family.”

Trump expressed empathy, adding that he knew he was “the type of personality that would be problematic” if he decided to drink.

“Don't drink,” he advised. “If you don't drink, you won't be lonely.”
