Falcons and Titans Seek First Preseason Win
The Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans are both looking to bounce back after disappointing starts to their preseason. They’re set to face off at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Friday, August 15th, at 7 PM, eager to secure their first win.
Atlanta suffered a loss against the formidable Detroit Lions, a game where head coach Raheem Morris opted to rest all his offensive starters, including notable players like Michael Penix Jr. and Kirk Cousins. Easton Stick stepped in but couldn’t prevent a 17-10 defeat, which was dampened further by an injury to Detroit’s defensive back Morris Norris in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Tennessee fell 29-7 to the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay. Their No. 1 draft pick completed five out of eight passes for 67 yards, while Calvin Ridley managed to catch three passes for 50 yards.
Interestingly, the two teams had a skirmish during joint practice on Wednesday ahead of their matchup. Penix Jr. managed to throw a touchdown pass to Ray-Ray McCloud III amidst the tussle. “I don’t know where I was,” Penix Jr. remarked, describing the chaotic scene. “It was a lot of people. I knew I was somewhere, but I wasn’t the only one.” He’s expected to participate in Saturday’s game, although it’s unclear who will start.
