2026 Academy Award Nominations Announced
The nominations for the 2026 Academy Awards are out, and, as usual, there are ten films competing for the coveted Best Picture award.
This list includes Battles Continue One After Another and Hamnet, both of which recently earned Golden Globe awards—one for Best Musical/Comedy and the other for Best Drama.
Leading the nominations is Sinner, directed by Ryan Coogler, with a staggering 16 nominations. This film has set a record for the most Academy Award nominations ever received by a single movie, surpassing the previous record of 14 nominations held by films like All About Eve, La La Land, and Titanic.
This year’s Best Picture nominees feature two biographical dramas: Hamnet, which draws inspiration from William Shakespeare’s life and his wife Agnes, and Marty Supreme, based on table tennis player Marty Reisman. Additionally, there are four adaptations of books, namely Hamnet, Frankenstein, Train Dreams, and Battles Continue One After Another. Interestingly, there are a few original films too, like Sinner, Sentimental Value, and Secret Agent.
If you’re looking to catch up on all the Best Picture nominees before the big night scheduled for March 15, consider this your handy guide.
Below, you’ll find the ten nominated films listed alphabetically, complete with details about each film, including current streaming availability. Not every title has debuted on streaming services, but we’ll keep this information updated as they become available. So, definitely bookmark this for the latest updates.
