WNBA All-Star Weekend Approaches
The WNBA season has reached its halfway point, which means it’s time for All-Star Weekend.
This exciting two-day event kicks off on July 18th, featuring a 3-point contest and a skills challenge.
During the 3-point contest, five players will put their shooting skills to the test. They’ll shoot from five different spots along the 3-point line, each rack containing five balls that are worth either 1 or 2 points. Among the participants, Alicha Gray and Sabrina Ionescu, both past winners, will be competing.
Unlike the 3-point contest, there’s been a different winner each year for the Skills Challenge. Gray, the reigning champion, could potentially make history tonight. Each competitor will need to execute three types of passes (bounce, chest, outlet) and three different jump shots (elbow jumper, corner 3, and break 3).
Details you should know about the 3 Point Contest:
- When: July 18th, 8 PM
- Where: Gainbridge Field House, Indianapolis
- Channel: ESPN
- Streaming: DirectV (potential free trial available)
The Skills Challenge winner will take home $57,575, thanks to the collective bargaining agreement and additional awards. The victor of the 3-point contest will receive $60,000.
