WCBS-TV anchor Dana Tyler to step down from daily duties after 34 years

Dana Tyler, a mainstay of WCBS-TV’s evening newscasts for decades, will quit her job as daily anchor later this month, according to reports.

Tyler, an Emmy Award-winning journalist who co-anchors the 6pm newscast on New York City’s Channel 2 with Dick Brennan, is stepping down from his chair at the station after 34 years.

Brennan, who has been with the department since 2012, will also be replaced at 6 p.m.

Maurice Dubois and Kristin Johnson, who co-anchor the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts, will expand their broadcast time to 6:30 p.m.

Tyler, the longest-serving anchor in the network’s history, will contribute articles and interviews to the channel’s terrestrial broadcast and streaming platforms, according to an internal memo circulated by the network.

The newspaper has reached out to Tyler and the department for comment.

Tyler, 65, joined WCBS-TV in 1990 after moving from his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, where he worked as a reporter and anchor at local station WBNS/10.
