We Called the Trump Result, but Republicans Stalled Downticket

The Rasmussen Report has once again emerged as one of the most accurate polling organizations in presidential elections, but Republicans need to study why they have struggled to win more low-ballot races. says pollster Mark Mitchell.

Rasmussen's final election poll showed Donald Trump leading Kamala Harris by 3 points nationally. In the end, he won the popular vote by just over two points. Rasmussen's poll also suggested that Trump had a slight lead in all seven “battleground states.” Trump ultimately won all seven on his way to victory on November 5th.

“He's going to surprise people in battleground states by being on the right in the polls,” Mitchell said on Nov. 2.

Mitchell told Breitbart News. Breitbart News Sunday Sunday evening on SiriusXM Patriot 125. He said Trump performed as expected, but given the magnitude of Trump's victory in the national popular vote, Republicans could see gains in the Senate, House and state levels as expected. He pointed out that he was unable to do so.

“The biggest surprise to me, and I think Republicans should be asking themselves every day for the next four years, is, if the entire country moved seven points to the right, why did it only move one point?” Are there two points on the right side of the battlefield? That's the problem,” Mitchell said.

“This was a massive repudiation of the Biden administration’s leftism, but still [these are] The growth in the negative vote remains very small. ”

Republicans gained four seats in the Senate, but Democrats appear to have blocked challenges in Wisconsin, Nevada and Arizona. Additionally, Republicans won only a handful of House seats, preserving their majority but failing to expand their seats to a more comfortable range. At the state level, Republicans won only about 50 Congressional seats nationwide, a difference of less than 1 percentage point.
