Republican Strategist Calls for Unity Amidst Political Divisions
Republican strategist Andy Slavian, a close friend of Charlie Kirk, expressed concerns about the current political climate during an appearance on Saturday. He remarked, “I don’t want to lose sight of the fact that we face evil. While we have seen plenty of goodness around us, it’s essential not to dwell too much on the negativity we observe.”
Slavian acknowledged the necessity for unity in the country, assuring that not all Democrats share a celebration of violence. “We need unity in this country. I certainly don’t believe that the majority of Democrats find joy in the act of violence,” he stated. “The majority of Americans wouldn’t want to see their loved ones harmed.”
He firmly distanced himself from those who might celebrate violence, saying, “If you revel in someone’s death, particularly that of Charlie Kirk, I don’t want to unite with you. Your mindset is fundamentally wrong.”
Slavian emphasized the importance of rejecting political violence, saying, “We ought to come together as Americans to denounce political violence. I genuinely believe this.” He went on to assert that coming together is impossible when some celebrate the deaths of others.
Adding to his thoughts, Slavian suggested that if Democrats truly want to address the problem of political violence, they need to confront the “device” that perpetuates divisive rhetoric. “If the left is earnest about wanting unity and an end to political violence, one effective step would be to dismantle the pervasive messaging that demonizes Republicans as extremists,” he noted.
He concluded by stating that this coordinated messaging originates from prominent Democrats and their supporters. “This isn’t just an isolated issue. It’s funded by major donors, think tanks, nonprofits, and various politicians,” he said.
