Ukrainian leader Voldy Mirzelensky's takedown was a planned ambush, which was “total BS,” said US national security adviser Mike Waltz. Saturday Breitbart NewsHe and Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained that they made it clear to Zelensky after the media showed that it was “time to go” after negotiations were over.
Historically speaking, Waltz said there was a moment in US history when the president decided that negotiations were not going well and he left, giving a recent example of his involvement with Kim Jong-un when President Trump came out for his first term.
“Deal makers know when to leave bad deals, bad or bad negotiations. President Reagan came out of Reykjavik when Gorbachev refused to move forward in missile defense. But if you know, President Trump said at that meeting, “You know, this is all playing in front of the press. All you're looking at is because the other side is not interested in him actually finishing his situation and he doesn't have too many cards,” Waltz said.
“They were unsure. He pointed out that the Ukrainian US ambassador frowned as his face literally dropped in his oval office, he said.
She “knows that the gravity of what happened, the exhaustion of America's patience, the exhaustion of this president's patience, and that he was personally shamed,” Waltz said.
“How do you humiliate someone when you're actually seeking money and help, when you're totally dependent on them, and when you step into their White House and oval offices, debate and insult, and try to confirm the facts,” he continued. “So we made it clear in uncertain terms and we made it clear that negotiations could have been a great day for them.
Waltz also addresses reports that the scene was planned, calling such speculation “Total BS.”
“And let me explain one more thing. You're hearing this and you know some of these, so this is another mainstream media that this is some sort of setup as part of the plan. JD Vance, his ambush – total BS,” he said.
“I had to tell you, I worked so hard to negotiate that agreement. Secretary of Rubio's Treasury Secretary, Secretary Becent, we have been working this for weeks, and I really thought Zelensky had the opportunity for other strong leaders, including the British Prime Minister, Macron of France, and the NATO executive director. Ukraine added, “The US taxpayers are starting… we've got some of these billions back, donated grants, and restructured the entire aid.”
“He could have walked away with a massive victory and blown it away,” he added.
