Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said Sunday on CBS' “Face the Nation” that she wants “more transparency” from the federal government about mysterious drones seen over the East Coast. .
Host Margaret Brennan said: “I want to ask you about drones on the East Coast. I co-sponsored a bill to try to expand it. Why do we need Congressional legislation to address this, and why haven't Democrats acted on it?”
Klobuchar said, “First of all, the government has repeatedly assured people that they are safe. But we need an explanation to the senators to understand what's going on here. Two things. The eye needs more transparency, 3 Number one, I appreciated some of the congressman's words, because what he's talking about is that we need to put new regulatory rules in place here. Registration is required and there are penalties for non-registration. Well, I think we have to work with local and state authorities to make sure this regime is enforced. And we have to think about, do we really need all these drones? Because while these drones may be safe, they are Because you never know what's going to happen on the line. In the future, they'll have to be within 400 feet, so what's going to happen to these people at a family picnic? Is it flying above or over the beach? This happens too often. So, I was glad that he said he wanted to move forward with some rules and find a way to regulate them in a better way, because this is not possible. No one knows if this giant drone is right above their house.”
